Get Cleansed! How to use Cilantro to detoxify your body

By: Sara Jane Adkins

For millions of years, we have been able to enjoy pure and clean food and water. Over the last 100 years, however, things have changed for the worse, and we find ourselves living in have a world with many items created with the use of man-made chemicals, pollutants and toxins.

In 2005, a study was conducted on the blood samples of babies born in American Hospitals.

Researchers tested for 415 chemicals, and shockingly, they found traces of 287 chemicals in the babies’ blood.

Obviously, these little tikes could not get these chemicals from breathing or contact: they got them from their mothers and their environment.

A whopping 80,000 chemicals are used in the industrialized world, and unfortunately as a result, many of us are affected in a negative way.

If you suffer from unexplained headaches, muscle soreness, fatigue, depression, or bloating, there is a chance that there could be a few pesky chemicals playing havoc with your health.

Moreover, numerous chronical diseases and cancers can also be attributed to extensive chemical exposure.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a study of around 2,400 people revealed the presence of 215 toxic compounds found in their blood and urine.

Also, nearly 40 percent of the US population has toxic levels of lead in their body.

With all of these troubling stats and figures, it can be easy to become discouraged but fear not!

There is a natural plant-based food that we can use to help us detoxify and rid ourselves of these dirty toxins.

It is known as Cilantro, a tiny edible Chinese herb that is packed is powerful vitamins and minerals.

While there are many over-the-counter detox kits available, little can be said about their efficacy and safety but there are many studies to prove the efficacy of Cilantro in detoxifying the body.

Here is what a Cilantro detox can do for you:

  • Help you build a stronger immunity
  • Potentially give you more energy
  • Assist you when dealing with aches and pains
  • Aid you in experiencing fewer allergies
  • Support in burning fat cells
  • Help you grow healthier skin, hair and nails

Detoxifying Properties of Cilantro

A single serving size of nine sprigs of cilantro contains only 5 calories, yet 1,350 IU of vitamin A, and 62 mcg of Vitamin K.

In other words, a small serving of cilantro can fulfill up to of 27 percent of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin A and 52 percent of your needed Vitamin K.

Vitamin A supports the immune system, inflammatory functions, and helps maintain good vision while Vitamin K helps with blood clotting and promoting solid bone health.

Cilantro has been used for centuries to help people get rid of unwanted (and potentially dangerous) heavy metals.

Studies have revealed that levels of heavy metals such as mercury, aluminum, and lead in the urine increase significantly during cilantro detox.

Using Cilantro to detoxify your body

The best thing about using Cilantro to detoxify your body is that is something that can easily be added to your diet.

It has a particularly refreshing fragrance and a distinctly strong flavor, which makes it an excellent herb to use when seasoning food.

Preparation is also easy as you can simply chop it up and add to special dishes such as: salsas, soup, guacamole, or chutneys.

Cilantro also makes a great seasoning for every day dishes such as salads, scrambled eggs and even when baking bread!

Cilantro and Chlorella

Cilantro and Chlorella have been found to have the ability to remove up to 80% of heavy metals from your body within about 42 days.

Experts believe that cilantro can mobilize more heavy metals than it actually can carry, which means, it will loosen up the heavy metals, but will not be able to attach enough of the ions to carry them out through the normal excretion process.

If some of the heavy metal is left in the connective tissue, the body becomes susceptible to retoxification.

To prevent this, health experts recommend taking cilantro with chlorella, which is another chelating agent with numerous health benefits.

You can choose to use a quarter cup of fresh, organic cilantro with chlorella for up to 3 weeks.

It is important to pay attention to your body, and see how you feel.

If you experience any symptoms such as skin sensitivity or chest pain, you should lower your intake.

After 3 weeks, you should continue taking cilantro as a part of your regular diet for prevention.
