Losing weight most of the time does not take an entire lifestyle change but rather tweaks in existing routines. Something as simple as changing the number of reps done in a weightlifting workout combined with lowering rest times can lead to melting pounds off. There are things that can be done that will provide weight loss but it will not be lasting. These need to be avoided as losing weight needs to be done with a lifestyle change rather than a few weeks of living healthy. The following are tips to lose weight as well as what to avoid during your journey to a healthier weight.

Vary Your Workouts

Doing the same workout day after day can yield results but it might not help with weight loss. You are going to need to get your heart rate up while doing your workouts so doing the same workout you have done for years is not going to cut it. Try varying your cardio whether you switch from running to swimming or try a group fitness class. Yoga can be a low-impact workout as well and be adding flexibility is something that a majority of people need to do. (1)

Don’t Do A Crash Diet

Doing a crash diet is a great way to lose weight short term but it is not a healthy option. Coupling that with the fact that you most likely will binge eat and gain weight back does not make this a sustainable option. Try doing some sort of diet to see what works for you as everyone craves different things that the body needs. Research what foods are healthy alternatives to foods that you enjoy that might not be as healthy. One step at a time when it comes to your diet as it is what will fuel your weight loss venture.

Do Not Do Too Much Too Quickly

The worst thing that a person can do when trying to lose weight is to go crazy and do too much in the gym during the first couple of weeks. This can lead to injury or simply not being capable of working out due to extremely sore muscles. Injuring yourself is only going to impede your weight loss journey and could possibly have you in worse shape after recovering from the injury than before exercising in the first place.(2)

Focus On Recovery

After starting a new exercise routine or ramping up your current routine you need to focus on recovery. Reducing muscle pain using lemongrass is possible especially if coupled with healthy proteins as well as the right combination of amino acids to help with muscle recovery. Take the time to spend on your recovery whether it is going to get a massage or getting a nice stretch in to make sure you avoid cramps or tightening throughout the day after a workout. Recovery can be as important as the workout itself as you need to be ready to workout consistently instead of sporadically due to injured or tired muscles.

As you can see there are plenty of things that you should do and shouldn’t do. They are not always intuitive so it is important to research what tactics line up the most with your goals. Good luck on your journey to reach your dream weight.
