Pet allergy

Precautionary Measures

After each contact, the owner must wash the hands. The pet must not be allowed to lick the pets. Pets are to be restricted on sleeping on the same bed where the owner sleeps. The number of upholstered furniture is reduced. The walls, wood, and floors are to be kept as clean as possible. The floors are to be kept polished. The carpets used on the floor must be cleaned every week. The mattresses used are to be exposed to bright sunlight after each use preferably. Only washable sheets, blankets, and pillows are to be used.

Only microfiber clothes and vacuum cleaners that have a vortex with no bag and an allergen filter to clean the house thoroughly are to be used and the cleaning will be done at least twice a week. Any cuddly toys that are and have been in contact with the animals are required to be washed at 60°C in a month. This is applicable to pillowcases. They may alternatively be put in the freezer for 8 hours. The pet is required to be bathed at least once a week in plain water. They are then will be dried properly. The researchers claim that a weekly ‘cat wash’ lowers the level of allergens in the home.
