Whoever has high cholesterol and triglycerides and has to regulate lipid levels in their blood, should definitely try this homemade drink that will solve all their problems. In just a few steps you will have a green drink that cleanses your blood and purifies your whole body.
You should of course make some lifestyle changes, by introducing exercise and a healthy diet, in addition to drinking this drink, which all together will balance your system.
To prepare this recipe you will need the following ingredients:
- 100-120 sprigs of parsley with leaves
- 3 liters ( 101 oz) of water
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of lemons
Why will these ingredients help me lower my cholesterol level?
Parsley- It is a great source of anti-oxidant nutrients, such as: flavonoids (luteolin) and Vitamin C, which increase the antioxidant capacity of the blood. Therefore, parsley regulates your cholesterol levels, by getting rid of the free radicals from your body.
Baking soda- It promotes the function of the kidneys, keeps your pH balanced and helps with occasional heartburn and digestion problems, which can be an indicators of heart problems due to high cholesterol levels. Do not worry about sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) containing a bit of sodium, because it will not raise your blood sugar.
Lemons- This fruit is well-known for its fat burning properties and therefore it is part of every single health or weight-loss diet. Even though they have acidic taste, lemons alkalize your body because of the citric and ascorbic acid, which are natural anti-oxidants. Lemons also do not contain any saturated fat or cholesterol and are a great source of dietary fiber.
Water- “Water makes up about 2/3 of who we are, and influences 100 percent of the processes in our body,” says Camelback hydration expert Doug Casa, PhD. You definitely cannot live without water, because it is the number one thing that hydrates you from the inside out and at the same time flushes all your toxins out of your body.
First, you should wash the lemons with cold water and then put them in a bowl of warm water previously mixed with baking soda. Let the lemons stay in the warm water with baking soda for about one hour. This way they will be cleaned perfectly and they will also get nutrients from the baking soda. Then, wash the parsley thoroughly and chop in into small pieces. You should chop the lemons as well with their peel on.
Put the lemons and the parsley into a pot with the 3 liters of water. Cook this mixture over low heat for about 2 to 3 hours until half of the water has evaporated. Lastly, let the mixture cool off, put it in a strainer first and afterwards put the liquid into a pitcher.
It is recommended to keep the drink refrigerated and drink 50 ml (1.7 oz), every day on an empty stomach and wait for half an hour before eating anything.
