For men, the topic of desire is always very sensitive. Recent studies have shown that there is an increase in the number of cases of reduced libido among the sexually active population in many countries. This can be attributed to several factors. Acquired factors are the leading cause of reduced sex drive in many men. Fortunately, most of these factors are modifiable. Lifestyle changes have proved to be very significant in maintaining a high libido. These changes are inexpensive and easy for any man to make. Here are 8 lifestyle changes to make in 2018 that could improve your libido.

1. Eat healthy foods

‘You are what you eat is a common phrase heard in the gym, but it also applies to the bedroom. Decreased libido is sometimes caused by the food we eat. This includes processed food, sugar, low-grade meat and diet soda. Unfortunately, most men in their sexual peak ingest such foods. You can enjoy a high libido by simply checking what you eat. There are some foods that boost your sex drive. Simply replacing a can diet soda with green tea will go a long way in maintaining a high libido. Foods like ginger, blueberries, bananas, and nuts are all known to improve libido.  So simply eat your way to an improved sexual appetite.

2. Stop smoking

Smoking is not only dangerous for your lungs but also for your sex life. This social habit narrows your blood vessels, which obstructs the flow of blood to the penis. Studies have shown many men with erectile dysfunction have a history of smoking. Tobacco is notorious for causing reduced sexual performance. The damage from smoking is generally permanent, so putting out the cigarette sounds like a very good idea.

3. Reduce your alcohol intake

Too much of anything is bad for your health. Alcohol maybe the gateway to fraternising and lowering inhibitions, but too much alcohol impairs sexual performance. Alcohol is a depressant, and this can hamper coordination between the central nervous system and your sexual organs. High blood alcohol content is associated with delayed erection and orgasm.    For good sex just watch your alcohol content.

4. Be romantic

Just because she needs to be turned on doesn't mean sex works as a switch. Most men fail to have good sex because of a bad plan. Spending intimate time with your partner can improve your sex life. Romantic gestures trigger the release of sex hormones that can last a whole day. Moreover, by being romantic, you increase the level of ‘feel-good hormones in your bloodstream. A simple romantic dinner or a passionate love text may be the solution to boost your libido.

5. Stay confident

There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Confidence starts outside the bedroom. It begins with how you look and how you talk. Most women fall for men who walk with confidence and speak with self-assurance. Even women in relationships admit they get turned on when their male partners are confident. This sets the perfect prerequisite for good sex. So dress well, speak with certainty, and walk with confidence. All this will boost your male libido.

6. Keep fit

Usain Bolt is glorified for finishing the 100-metre sprint in 9.58 seconds, but a similar stunt in the bed will not earn you any glory. Most men have a decreased sex drive due to a lack of fitness.  Some burn out halfway into the act and throw in the towel. Increasing your physical endurance boosts your sex drive, and this can be achieved in many ways. Jogging is an inexpensive way of getting fit, and perhaps jogging with your partner can count as intimate time.

7. Don’t be stressed

When the mind is stressed the body will not perform. Studies show that men stressed at work have poor sexual performance. Stress inhibits the release of sex hormones and adversely affects the libido. The same applies to depression. A simple solution to this is avoiding stress triggers before and during engagements with your partner. To enhance your sex life, be happy and avoid stress.

8. Try out new things

As a young boy, you were probably fascinated by adventures. Most men are not willing to try out new things to spice up their sex life, and this has affected their sex drive. Sex is not meant to be boring, so you should make an effort to keep things exciting. Try out new sex positions and be adventurous. In this sense, regaining your pioneering childhood spirit may boost your libido. Be playful with your partner, and you’ll both have a better time in bed.
